Fox Animation

The first unit of the course is learning how to animate a cartoony fox, with the main focuses being on learning two of the main principles of animation, squash and stretch, and overlapping action. Overlapping action is when parts of the rig are influenced by the main movement. For this task I used the Ultimate Tailed Rig created by Ugur Ulvi Yetiskin (2012), recommended by the tutorial.

The tail of the rig was used to create overlapping action with the main action of the body squashing and stretching when bounching, going down when the body goes up, and up when the body goes down. Overlapping action is something that I have tried doing before during the animation unit of the games design cause that I originally did and that I thought looked good. However, learning how it should actually work allows me to make that original animation look much better.
