Horse Gallop Animation

For my sixth animation (unit 4) I returned to the horse using the same rig from last time (by MothmanTD). This task was to create a galloping horse. As it was similar to the trotting horse, I was able to complete it fairly quickly.

As with the previous horse animation I struggled with the tail and so will revisit this in the future once I have a better understanding of the techinques involved. I believe that certain aspects of the animation still need refining to make the movements more pleasing to the eye.

Its possible that the instructions on how to properly animate the tail are included in ‘part 5’ of these tutorials. However, ‘part 5’ repeats ‘part 1’.

Hi, my name is Alex.

I’ve been passionate about animation since I was six years old. I used to create short videos with my Star Wars Lego figures bringing my stories to life. I’ve been doing the same kind of thing ever since and when I had the opportunity to learn the skills and software needed to build and animate for games, I jumped at the chance. My love for video games meant that Game Design was an obvious choice for my degree and showed me that, actually, animation was the way I wanted to go. I am currently doing a Master's in Character and Creature Animation at the University of Hertfordshire. Before that I studied Game Design at the University of Wolverhampton.

I am proficient in Maya, Blender, and Unreal Engine, and also have experience of 3DS Max and Rokoko Motion Capture Software.
