Spider Animation

My fourth animation (unit 5) was the spider walk cycle using the Raa the spider rig by radheshatlar. After spending some time on the horse for the previous unit I wanted to try something else.

This was a relatively easy task in that once I had sucessfully animated one leg I could simply copy and paste keyframes on to all of the remaining legs. I enjoyed adding the overlapping bounce to certain parts of the rig.

UPDATE: Feedback from others on the course pointed out that I had forgotten to turn on the infinity curves that allowed the body to move in synchronisation with the legs. This was an easy fix.

Hi, my name is Alex.

I’ve been passionate about animation since I was six years old. I used to create short videos with my Star Wars Lego figures bringing my stories to life. I’ve been doing the same kind of thing ever since and when I had the opportunity to learn the skills and software needed to build and animate for games, I jumped at the chance. My love for video games meant that Game Design was an obvious choice for my degree and showed me that, actually, animation was the way I wanted to go. I am currently doing a Master's in Character and Creature Animation at the University of Hertfordshire. Before that I studied Game Design at the University of Wolverhampton.

I am proficient in Maya, Blender, and Unreal Engine, and also have experience of 3DS Max and Rokoko Motion Capture Software.
